At SportU, privacy, respect and trust are some of our core values and therefore our top priority. As a result, we undertake to set out a very strict and careful policy towards you and to implement all privacy principles in the SportU App and web design. We appreciate your trust in us and we will not compromise on your privacy.
From the earliest designs of the SportU application and website, your privacy is our key priority and all subsequent design actions are carefully reviewed by experts in many areas to ensure we can respect your privacy. An example of this is the chat function that allows you to interact with other users of the SportU App, the content of the chats is processed completely encrypted and only visible to you and your chat partner.
We strive to be transparent in the way we process your data. Because many of us use the same online services as most of our users, we know that insufficient information and overly complex language are common concerns in privacy policies. For us, user security is of paramount importance and we work hard to keep your information safe, also in the long term.
It should be clear that we do our utmost to create a meaningful, sporty match. To make this possible, we need some personal information. If you want to use our services, you need to provide some information. When creating an account, you will at least provide us with your login information and some basic information needed for our app and web services to work, such as your gender and date of birth.
When you have completed your profile, you can add a profile picture and share additional information with us, such as details about the sport(s) you would like to practice, the intensity of these sports, interests outside of the SportU platform and personal details. If you want to add content, such as images, you may give us access to your camera or photo album. Some of the information you give us may be considered "special" or "sensitive" in certain jurisdictions, such as your racial or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and/or religious beliefs. By choosing to provide us with this information, you consent to our processing of that information.
When you subscribe to a paid service or purchase something directly from us (instead of buying it through a platform, such as iOS or Android), you provide us or our payment service provider with information such as your debit or credit card number and/or other financial information, this is especially applicable to the hotspots/ locations and personal trainers.
When you choose to participate in one of our promotions (possibly through our partners), events or competitions, we collect the information that you use to register, sign up and/or participate.
When you contact our support team, we collect the information you provide us with during communication. Sometimes we monitor or record these interactions for training purposes and to ensure a high quality of service.
Of course, we also process your chats with other users, as well as the content you publish, as part of the operation of the services. It should be explicitly stated that all chat data is encrypted in order to optimally guarantee your privacy and is therefore only visible to you and your chat partner.
In addition to the information you provide us with, we may receive information about you from others, including:
Other users may provide us with information about you when they use our services. For example, we may collect information about you from other users when they contact us about you, for example to report you.
In the future, it may be possible to use your social media login details (such as Facebook) for your SportU account. This prevents you from having to remember another username and password and allows you to share some information directly from your social media account with us. As for now, this option is not yet used when logging in.
We may receive information about you from our partners, for example on those webpages or platforms where advertisements from SportU are displayed (in this case, they can pass on data about the success of a campaign).
When you use our services, we collect information about your interaction with the application, such as visiting time, consulted functionalities and the devices on which the services are installed. The latter concerns hardware- and software information such as IP address, device ID and type, device specific settings and characteristics, settings and characteristics of apps, app crashes, advertising IDs (such as AAID from Google and IDFA from Apple; both are randomly generated numbers that you can reset by going to your device settings), browser type, version and language, operating system, time zones, identifiers associated with cookies or other technologies that can specifically identify your device or browser (e.g. IMEI / UDID and MAC address), and information about your wireless and mobile network connection (e.g. your service provider and signal strength).
The main reason we use your information is to provide and improve our services, all in the broadest sense of the word. In addition, we use your data to protect you and show relevant advertisements.
Examples of reasons for using your information are for example that you are able to: create and manage your account, contact the support department of SportU, connect with other users of the SportU platform as well as chat with other users and personal trainers and locating hotspots where you can go to with your (newly-)found sports partner, etc.
Other reasons are to ensure a consistent experience across all your devices. Link the different devices you use so that you can enjoy a consistent experience of our services on all these devices. We do this by linking devices and browser data, such as when you log into your account on different devices or by using a partial or full IP address, browser version and similar data about your devices to identify and link them. We are also able to communicate with you via email, telephone, social media and/or mobile devices about products or services, those of which we think may interest you. Conduct research and analysis of user behavior to improve our services and content (for example, we may decide to change the look or significantly change a particular feature based on user behavior). To prevent, detect and combat fraud or other illegal or unauthorized activities; an important theme for both you and us (also think of the possibility of tackling unauthorized behavior).
It should be clear that we try to achieve good sports matches in which we naturally exchange user information between the users of the app. You share information with other users when you voluntarily disclose information on the Service (including your public profile). Please be careful with information you share and make sure that the content you share are not a problem for public viewing, as neither you nor we can control what others do with your information once you have shared it.
In addition, it may be possible that information is shared with third parties, we use third parties to help us perform and improve our services for you. These third parties assist us with a variety of tasks, including data hosting and maintenance, analytics, customer service, marketing, advertising, payment processing and security activities.
We may transfer your information if we are involved, in whole or in part, in a merger, sale, acquisition, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, bankruptcy or other change of ownership or control.
We may or must disclose your information if necessary: (i) to comply with legal process, such as a court order, subpoena or search warrant, governmental/ law enforcement investigation and/or other legal requirements; (ii) to assist in the prevention or detection of crime (in both cases subject to applicable law); or (iii) to protect the safety of any person.
We may also share information: (i) if disclosure would limit our liability in an actual or possible lawsuit; (ii) if necessary to protect our legal rights and/or those of our users, business partners and/or other interested parties; (iii) to enforce our agreements with you; and (iv) to investigate, prevent, or take other action with regard to illegal activities, suspected fraud or other wrongdoing.
We use standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission or other appropriate security to allow data transfers from the EEA to other countries. Standard contractual clauses are commitments between companies that transfer personal data, binding them to protect the privacy and security of your data.
In certain countries, including the European Union, you have the right to complain to a relevant data protection authority if you have concerns about the way we process your personal data. The data protection authority to which you can complain may be that of your habitual residence, where you work or where we are located.
Mobile platforms have authorization systems for specific types of data and device notifications, such as directory and location services, as well as push notifications. You can change your settings on your device to allow or deny the collection of the corresponding information or the display of the corresponding notifications. Of course, some services may lose its full functionality if you decide to do this.
You can stop an app from collecting information by removing it. This can be done by using the uninstall process for your device. If you delete the app from your mobile device, the unique ID associated with your device will remain stored. If you reinstall the application on the same mobile device, we can restore this ID with previous transactions and activities. If you choose not to use our services anymore, you are always able to completely remove the application from your device.
We work hard to protect you from unauthorized access or alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information. However, as with all technology companies, while we take steps to protect your information, we cannot promise, and you should not expect, that your personal information, chats (although encrypted and therefore not directly readable by others) and other communications will always remain secured.
We only keep personal information for as long as we need it for legitimate business purposes and as permitted by applicable legal requirements. To protect the safety of our users on and off our services, we maintain a secure window of three months after account deletion. During this period, account and therefore user information is kept, although the account is of course no longer visible on the platform.
As we are always looking for new and innovative ways to help build meaningful relationships, these policies may change over time. We will of course notify you before any critical changes go into effect to make sure you have time to review these changes.
